Robert Downey Jr. Begs Hollywood To 'Forgive' Mel Gibson'
Robert Downey Jr. was the honoree at Friday night's American Cinematheque Awards but it was Mel Gibson who stole the show.
Gibson was the surprise celeb who made the presentation, and Downey returned the favor by making an impassioned plea to the star-studded audience to "forgive" Mel, and more importantly, to hire him.
“Unless you are without sin – and if you are, you are in the wrong f**king industry, you should forgive him and let him work,” Downey said from the stage.
The two men co-starred in Air America in 1990, a time when Downey's substance abuse problems made it impossible for the producers to insure him. Gibson fought for his friend, even posting the insurance bond himself.
“He taught me many things and I will use the ‘C’ word, courage. There’s nothing so much wrong with him. Of course you have to worry about the guy making the judgment here," Gibson joked as he made the presentation. "He’s a good dude with a good heart.”Read more at Radaronline

Kristen Stewart reveals which ‘Twilight’ character she thinks is best
HollywoodNews.com: Kristen Stewart is wrapping up her time with “Twilight’ as the final films are released, but now she is opening up about which character she thinks is the best in the series.
Stewart revealed that her own character of Bella is definitely at the top of the list, states Hollyscoop. “I sound so lame, but vampire Bella really is my favorite character – she’s very representative of a matriarch,” Stewart commented.
And while there are a number of things she loves about Bella in the end, there is one that really gets her: “I think it’s nice to see her finally get what she wants. That’s probably the best thing, even if it sounds simple and indulgent, which is why the f-cking thing is criticized all the time. It’s nice to see people be happy.”Read more

“Footloose” will apparently gross $20 million for the weekend
HollywoodNews.com: At 3:28pm yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter sent out links to an article regarding early box office estimates based purely on afternoon matinees on the East Coast. In it, they claimed that Paramount’s Footloose remake was on track to gross $20 million for the weekend, which was considered a solid win as tracking had put the film at between $15 million and $18 million going into Friday.
Yet by midnight, the numbers had been revised, both by The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline Hollywood. Now the number is at around $5.57 million for Friday, which means that the 80s remake looks to gross around $16-17 million (of course, official Friday estimates will be out in a couple hours…). So, as expected, Nikki Finke is screaming about how the number is ‘disappointing’, with yet another seemingly-invented quote from a studio executive about how the industry is ‘DOOMED!’. Yes, some of this is just Finke being Finke where every weekend is a failure and every movie is terrible. But we have a situation where a film was ‘doing better than expected’ in the late afternoon, yet was a disappointment despite opening right in line with tracking because the earliest-of-early estimates were a bit over-inflated.
Yes yes, I know I spent the summer guessing the weekend box office grosses for major summer films based on midnight grosses, so perhaps I may be a hypocrite. BUT, I didn’t run around screaming ‘bomb!’ because a film’s opening weekend didn’t open right in line with my purely-for-fun midnight math. As it is, I’d argue it’s good news that an 80s remake that no one wanted and a prequel to an 80s horror film (which is in itself a remake of a 50s horror film) that no one didn’t explode at the box office (The Thing looks to do around $10 million, give or take)Read more

David Arquette: Coco disapproves of DWTS judges
David Arquette’s daughter Coco doesn’t like it when the Dancing with the Stars judges have their “cranky pants on”.
David is starring in the popular ABC show with professional dance partner Kym Johnson.
The American actor has a loyal supporter in his seven-year-old daughter Coco. The youngster attends the shows with mother Courteney Cox-Arquette every week.
David has revealed his daughter doesn’t approve of the judges negative comments.
"She says sometimes the judges have on their cranky pants," he told People. "She says, 'Let's hope they have on their happy pants.'”
David is a doting father. The 40-year-old star showed off a tattoo he got in Coco’s honour on last night’s show. The body art reads ‘I love mom and dad,’ and is dedicated to the first note Coco wrote to her parents. David avoids showing it off, which is why some people noticed it for the first time while he was dancing on Monday.
"I got it when Coco was about five," he explained before adding that he doesn't "wear too many sleeveless things.”
David and Kym danced the Paso Doble on Monday night’s Hollywood-themed show.
The judges praised the pair for their control and attitude.
"I love the way you crack your whip!" Bruno Tonioli said of Arquette's Indiana Jones outfit. "Like an action hero! Ready to take us into a wild ride!” Read more

Jim Carrey Joining Burt Wonderstone
Looks like magician comedy Burt Wonderstone is set to re-ignite an old rivalry, as Jim Carrey is now negotiating to star alongside Steve Carell.
Wonderstone finds Carell as the title character, a Las Vegas illusionist who ditches his partner and then finds himself upstaged by a much hipper street magician (Carrey) who is stealing crowds away from him.
Carell and Carrey have a history of sparring on screen – the former Office man was Evan Baxter in 2003’s Bruce Almighty, an annoying colleague given some godlike comeuppance by Carrey. He even went on to play the character in floptastic sequel Evan Almighty.
The magical comedy has been developing for a little while now, lingering on Carell’s schedule as a possible future project, but always shoved down the list as other films came along. With the actor now free to make more movies, Wonderstone has finally gotten its chance, with shooting set to start shortly. Don Scardino is calling the shots, and Carrey getting close to locking in his role means things are moving forward properly for Burt at last.
Carrey was last seen in Mr Popper’s Penguins, but until this news, he had no solid next job despite several possible projects in development (empire Online)

Hungarian Police Seize Illegal Guns From Pitt’s Zombie Film Set
Brad Pitt’s World War Z film set was raided by Hungarian anti-terrorism authorities at the weekend after a cache of illegal guns were found in among the movie’s props.
Almost 100 unauthorised weapons were seized by police in Budapest, where the film is currently shooting.
The haul included a collection of automatic assault rifles.
Hajdu Janos, the director of Hungary’s Anti-Terrorism Unit, tells UsMagazine.com, “Guns like these are highly illegal to transport even if they were to used as stage guns, which hopefully they weren’t.”
It is not known how the weapons ended up on the set of the film.

Robert Downey Jr: Due Date was joyful
Cover) - EN Movies - Robert Downey Jr. says that acting in Due Date was one of the most “joyful experiences in history”.
The actor is well known for his leading roles as Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes.
However, the 46-year-old has revealed that working on the 2010 comedy was one the most enjoyable processes of his career.
The movie was directed and written by The Hangover director Todd Phillips and co-starred Zach Galifianakis.
"I am crazy about this movie,” he told the LA Times. “I just love it so much. Like Bradley Cooper in The Hangover I'm playing an aspect of Todd Phillips, an uptight, anxious, controlling aspect. The missus has seen this side of me too. This became one of the most privately joyful experiences in history. It had what all of my favourite comedies have: a real emotional resonance.”
On Friday, Robert will receive the 25th American Cinematheque Award, which honours his contribution to cinema.
The actor has been nominated for an Academy Award twice. The first was for his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin in Richard Attenborough’s 1992 film Chaplin. The second was for his supporting role in the Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder.

Matt Damon: Film diet almost killed me
(Cover) - EN Movies - Matt Damon claims he lost so much weight for a film he could’ve died. The Bourne Trilogy star was so desperate to become an actor when he was younger, he would have done anything to get a role.
His methods were so drastic that his dieting for his part in the 1996 film Courage Under Fire become dangerous.
“I had to be thin and went on an unsupervised diet which could have killed me,” the actor told British newspaper The Sun. “A doctor told me later I could have shrunk my heart permanently. I am 5ft 11in and went down to 135lb from my usual weight, between 173lb and 176lb. It didn't do me any good.”
It wasn’t until a year later that Matt became an international star. His movie Good Will Hunting propelled him and co-star Ben Affleck into the Hollywood spotlight. Matt admits that the sudden fame was shocking.
“After years of struggling, I had plenty,” Matt explained. “I hit a point in my late twenties when I was travelling and working non-stop. It took years before I felt like myself again. The whole thing was like an out-of-body experience.”
However, Matt does enjoy the perks of fame. He doesn’t understand why other actors complain when there are so many benefits.
“Whenever I read about famous actors suffering [from] pressure I wonder: ‘What are you talking about?’ You want a new suit? Armani give you one. It arrives and fits perfectly. You want a set of golf clubs? You get one free,” he said.

Real Steel Punches The US Box Office
It might not have been the knockout punch that DreamWorks and Disney were quite hoping for, but robo-boxing drama Real Steel still managed to score a win at the US box office, earning $27.3 million in its first weekend.
George Clooney’s latest directorial job, political drama The Ides of March, also enjoyed a solid start, taking in $10.4 million. The two new arrivals shoved Dolphin Tale down to third, but the heart-warming family pic still nabbed $9.1 million. Moneyball was fourth with $7.5 million and cancer comedy 50/50 stayed in fifth with $5.5 million.
Courageous slipped from fourth to sixth with $4.6 million, and The Lion King’s 3D re-release fell down to seventh, earning $4.55 million. That still kept it ahead of faltering thriller Dream House, which sank to eighth and $4.5 million. In ninth place we find What’s Your Number? taking $3 million and Abduction slumming it in 10th with $2.9 million. Read more at Empire Online

Salma Hayek: I’m nobody’s Barbie
Salma Hayek insists she’s “nobody’s Barbie”.
The stunning actress is married to French billionaire François-Henri Pinault. He is the CEO of luxury goods firm PPR - who own Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
Although she likes impressing her husband with her choice of attire, Salma would never dress a certain way just to make him happy.
"I like to play fashion with him, but I'm nobody's Barbie," she said in an interview with the November edition of Redbook magazine.
Salma can rely on François-Henri. However, the 45-year-old beauty insists being married to a powerful businessman doesn't mean she's given up her freedom.
"I work hard, I make my own living and I love it. I like having financial independence," she said. "I don't ever want to have to depend on anyone completely. But when I have troubles sometimes, it's nice to have someone there to help."
Salma has four-year-old daughter Valentina with François-Henri. The Mexican actress says her young child prompted her to star in the upcoming animation Puss in Boots, because she wanted to make a movie her daughter could watch.
While Salma admits motherhood has had a massive influence on her career choices, she is adamant she can still perform any role given to her.
"I'm playing the queen of a drug cartel in an Oliver Stone film," she said.
"He asked if I'd gone 'all soft' because I'm a mother. I said, 'Yes, but I can be the devil if I need to, because after all, I'm an actress.' "

New Snow White Pictures Released
We may still be waiting to find out an official title for the film, but Relativity Media is making sure we know Tarsem Singh’s take on the Snow White fairy tale is well and truly on the way, releasing two new pictures to Entertainment Weekly that you can scope out in the gallery below.
While the first look at Lily Collins as Snow surfaced around Comic Con, we now have a proper image of Collins and the dwarfs and Julia Roberts as her evil stepmother, the queen. Who clearly enjoys all the trappings of a rich life even as she plots the doom of anyone who dares challenge her standing as the fairest in all the land...
“She’s the cat that ate the canary,” director Singh tells the magazine. “From serial killers to anyone who does evil deeds, they basically have a devil-made-me-do-it excuse, or they hear voices,” he continues. “I decided for the evil queen, this is going to be a person who sees her good self — but there’s a mirror personality.”
And, in keeping with her character, she prefers to let others do her dirty work. “She outsources her evil, just like most people,” says Singh. “I wanted a person who is just schizophrenic. She’s a person who would just do all the evil she needs to do to stay in power.”
As for poor old Snow, she’s a victim of circumstance who ends up teamed with the seven dwarfs to help overthrow her stepmother. “They all train her in different things,” the director says.Read more at Empire Online

Trespass Set Was Like a Hospital Ward As Cage And Kidman Got Intense
Moviemaker Joel Schumacher was glad to have a military medic on the set of his new film Trespass because his "intense" stars were always getting injured.
The director reveals Cam Gigandet, Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman were left battered and bruised following the film's most dramatic and violent scenes - and he was glad there was someone nearby who could stitch them up.
Schumacher tells Wenn, "I was gonna put a card at the end of the movie saying, 'No animals were hurt making this movie but every actor in it was!' "Nic (Cage) got a very mild concussion when Ben (Mendelsohn) slammed him on the floor in one scene at the beginning and Ben cut his eye open in another scene.
Nicole was just black, blue and purple (bruised).
And it was Kidman, who plays the victim of Gigandet and Mendelsohn's violent intruders in the film, who was the one calling for her male co-stars to treat her rough
Cam smashed this subzero refrigerator so hard in frustration he ripped the top ofhis hand off.
