(Cover) - EN Movies - Steve Carell is attached to new movie Foxcatcher.
The 49-year-old comic star has joined forces with Bennett Miller, the director of Moneyball and 2005’s critically acclaimed Capote.
Foxcatcher is based on the true story of scientist and millionaire John du Pont.
In 1996 du Pont shot and killed Olympic athlete David Schlutz on his estate. Following the murder du Pont barricaded himself in the estate and negotiated with police for two days.
Bennett has been working on the script with E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman, who also co-wrote Capote.
Steve is set to play central character John Du Pont.
The 49-year-old funny man has recently completed filming on hit sitcom The Office. He is best known for his work in comedies such as the 40-Year-Old Virgin and Crazy, Stupid, Love, but this project will see Steve test his dramatic talents.
His straight roles in films such as Dan in Real Life and Little Miss Sunshine have largely gone under the radar. Steve may be hoping that Bennett can lead him to Oscar success. With only two major films under his belt the director certainly has a good track record. Philip Seymour Hoffman won the academy award for best actor for his portrayal of Truman Capote and there is already talk of Brad Pitt taking home next year’s Academy Award for his role in Moneyball.Read more at Music- News
